range of environmental consulting services and can draw on a wide range
of expertise.
The Centre is committed
to providing equitable and sustainable development and management options.
We view the economic, social and natural environments as interconnected
processes, a view which is reflected in the multi-disciplinary composition
of the Delta team. This dynamic approach to problem-solving ensures
that proposals, projects and research are viewed from a wide range of
perspectives.
Projects undertaken
include: EIA's and scoping reports covering property, mining as well
as nature reserve developments; ecotourism consulting; biophysical surveys;
and natural resource management strategies.
The team comprises:
Geoff Lockwood.
He is a member of the Delta Environmental Consultancy, as well as Delta's
consultant on environmental topics to businesses and industries and
is often called upon to advise on and contribute to environmental impact
assessment studies.
Geoff has consulted on a number of property developments: Blue Gill
(Kempton Park), Woodmead Office Park and Willows Estate, Johannesburg
Airport IDZ. He has contributed specialist input on birds and wetlands
to a number of EIA processes including the Crocodile River Mine, Springs/Nigel
airport, various casino proposals, golf course management issues and
the conversion of a golf course to higher density land use. He is a
consultant ornithologist for Veld Focus (50/50) and for BirdLife SA,
Ivan Ginsberg
Ivan Ginsberg has been involved in the environmental and ecological
arena since graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1985.
His responsibilities have included management of a nature reserve, lecturing
on ecology at the University of the Witwatersrand, specialist field
environmental/ecological education to various sectors, ranging from
adult/tertiary to senior school groups. He is also a core member involved
in ecological assessments and environmental assignments undertaken by
the Delta Environmental Team. He has also been involved in Environmental
Impact Assessments covering such projects as mining and property development
; Resource Management and Biosurveys.
He has recently co-authored a natural history book on Gauteng, and participated
in the development of field guides. He is also a registered Satour specialist
ecology /natural history guide.
Sandy Gracie
Contributes to social science issues, having a degree in Social Anthropology
and Psychology Honours. Facilitates workshops focussing on environmental
issues.
