THE
OWLS ARE BACK!
(Back)

The owls have
successfully reared 3 chicks in the owl box on the Centre
roof. They have not been around for the past 3 years, and it is wonderful
to have them back again. The chicks are rearing to go and in the evenings
they can be seen hopping about on the roof, flexing their wings and
despatching the food brought to them by the male owl.
The Grade 3
outing to Delta Park environmental centre was really worthwhile as you can see
from the delightful letters, which the children from King David Primary, Victory
Park, wrote to Geoff Lockwood.
Dear
Mr Lockwood,
Thank you so much for telling me so much about the Spotted Eagle Owl.
I especially enjoyed learning about how they can defend them self's and how they
fluff them self's up and click their beaks together, and how they stamp their
feet and look so fierce. I also enjoyed the experience and how you tell the difference
of the mail and the femail. I really think it was the best school outing I have
had this year. I really really really enjoyed learning about the Spotted Eagle
owl.
Thanking you,
Marc Lucey. Grade 3 . King David Primary Victory Park.

I never new how to tell the difference between a male and a female and that you
can get all that information just from owl pellets!

It was absolutely amazingly outstanding and it was probably my first experience
on Owls. So I am just telling you that it was really very interesting and I loved
it.

My best part was when you told us the story of when the owl was ill and the dog
got in. IT was very funny. It was very exciting to see the owl awake in the day.

It took a lot of currige to go on the roof and it was interesting to see the Owl
awake since it is a nocturnal animal.

You are a very clever man. What you talked about was so interesting. I wish I
could have had more.

I used to have a male and female owls living in my Willow tree. They had a baby
and it looked like a big fluffball. I've got three of your books. I always try
and see the birds in real life. So far we've nearly spotted half of one book.

Thank you for your interesting talk about the owls and how they survive in the
city
..My best was when you showed us the way the owls puffed up and snapped
their beaks and, if you turn your head, the owl will swoop down and dig his or
her claws into the back of your head.
