This partnership includes the national "Schools Water Action Project (SWAP)" and the "2020 Vision for Water Schools Project". Within Gauteng, a partnership has developed between Rand Water, a not-for-profit public utility, and Delta Environmental Centre, which has led to the formation of the "Water Wise Education Team (WWET WWET WWET)". |
|
WWET WWET WWET is a major role-player in the above projects and a number of educational methods and resources are utilised to impart the "Water Wise" message to varying age groups, such as a mobile education unit, interactive workshops, books, drama, field trips, etc., all of which are applicable to the new Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. These projects, methods and resources empower learners to take responsibility for their lives and their environment and give them the life skills needed to solve any environmental problems through action. The immersion of learners into the practical side of education will assist their growth to adulthood, improve the water situation in South Africa and will ensure a better environment for all South Africans now and in the future. |
